t/n: I don’t know about others, but I think every Asian kids can relate to Chaoming. Based on my experience, parents only care about the number one. If you get second place, it will still be a disappointment. The only place that matters is the top one. It’s kinda sad actually, to not be good enough in the eyes of the parents who is supposed to see just how much you work hard. Oh well, at least for me, my parents have stopped expecting too much from me. It’s fine to them if I get mediocre grades as long as I’m not failing. But when I was in high school, it was waaaay too different lol
